Meet one of the brightest stars at Lincoln Farm, Orion! Orion is a 1-year-old German Shepherd and is brimming with love to give.

Orion came into our care after he was found straying, which means we don’t have any knowledge of his life before coming to our centre. He very quickly showed himself to be the most snuggly, loving and playful boy there is! Typical of his age and breed, he loves to race around our paddocks and play a good game of fetch. He has been making both human and canine friends, although he can sometimes forget his size and likes to throw himself in to everything he does. We don’t think he has had many learning experiences prior to coming into our care, but he is trying his absolute best to be the goodest of boys during his training sessions with his carers.

We are hoping that Orion’s new family will be patient and kind whilst he settles into their home and learns his new routine and any house rules. He has endless enthusiasm for life and tries to make a game out of everything which means he has a tendency to forget his manners a little bit, especially when he is inside. We are working hard with him on this with fun training sessions, covering areas such as walking nicely on the lead, keeping all four paws on the ground and how to settle. Teaching him a swap has a been a real priority as he enjoys picking up all sorts of objects when he’s busy creating his own fun! These cheeky antics are part of his charm, but his new family will have to encourage him to settle and rest too so he doesn’t wear himself and them out too.

Orion is an incredibly loyal dog who is ever eager to please, so we would love to find someone who is happy to continue the training we are doing here at Lincoln Farm so he can become the best possible version of himself. Our team will be more than happy to run through what this smashing lad has been learning and the best way to motivate him with his new family.

Mental stimulation is really important for all dogs, but especially for dogs like Orion as he can become destructive if he is bored, so we have been providing him with lots of enrichment activities to help keep his mind busy (he will need supervising with his enrichment toys, as he has been known to chew and swallow them). Orion struggles with being left on his own, and is easily overwhelmed by household noises or general day-to-day activities. We are keen to find a kind, calm and understanding home that can ease him into day to day life slowly and to give him the confidence boost he needs.

We feel that Orion would be best suited to an adult only home without other pets, where someone is at home throughout the day, as this will give him the best chance to be a happy and settled boy.
