2 years old and full of fun; Sherry the Staffordshire bull terrier is looking for a patient and understanding adult family who will be happy to help her build confidence in day-to-day life.
Sherry is our very own Queen of Sass, but she is incredibly shy around new people, and will need time, love and patience from her new owners to help her overcome this and become comfortable enough to let her true colours shine. She is looking for a quiet and calm home where there wouldn’t be too many visitors, especially during her first few months with her new family so that she can bond with them and get settled in. Any potential adopters will need to be able to commit to multiple visits with Sherry so that they can get to know one another.
Sherry is at her happiest in the company of other dogs, she absolutely flourishes when she is given the opportunity to spend some time off lead with well-matched play mates and they all have a blast charging about with one another. Her canine pals also help her to cope when we have taken her out and about, and she has now reached a point of being happy to pass people we meet without panicking so long as they don’t actively approach her. Her new owners will need to be her advocate in these situations so that she doesn’t become overwhelmed as this can cause her to become reactive. Our team will be happy to support her new family as she transitions into her forever home so that she can continue to grow in confidence.
Once you have gained Sherry’s trust, she becomes a friend for life and that’s when her bouncy play and love of toys comes into the spotlight! Our team and our volunteers have loved getting to know this side of her, and it has taken a lot of time, patience and kindness to get to this point.
Sherry would be able to live with male dogs who would enjoy taking her under their wing and having a new play mate about the house. We would organise some doggy introduction dates to make sure all canines involved were comfortable and content in one another’s company. A home without cats would be the best fit for this lovely lady.
