Introducing our handsome lad Red, who is an 8 year old small Labrador. Red has come on leaps and bounds since arriving with us, but we have found that he can still be very shy in new situations and meeting people, so we feel his ideal home would be one with older teenagers and adults, who are able to give him the time and patience to settle in.
When Red arrived with us, we could see that he had sore feet and after tests, it was confirmed he had hookworm, Red has now been treated for it, but unfortunately some irreparable damage to his feet has already been done through the previous untreated hookworm, which means that he has scar tissue on his pads, which isn't as robust as the normal tough skin on pads, so he is now wearing his little boots when out and about to help protect his feet from getting sore.
Red's new family will need to like the great outdoors, so that they can continue to get Red used to new experiences and we feel he would be happiest living in a rural/village location. Red gets on well with his four legged friends, so much so that we feel he would love it if his new family had an already existing, steady female dog in the home.
Red will need continued work with his training and socialisation so we feel it is important that his new owners have the time to take him to training classes which will also help him bond with his new family.
